About BSM

Bangladesh society of Microbiologists (BSM) was established in 1976 with a view to promote microbiology education and research in Bangladesh. The goals and objectives of the society are to bring together the microbiologists working in different fields and share their experiences and ideas so that they can contribute to the development of this nation in a more coherent and organized manner. Formation of the society paved the way to the establishment of the Department of Microbiology atdifferent Universities of Bangladesh, including University of Dhaka. Since its inception, BSM has been publishing a peer reviewed journal Bangladesh Journal of Microbiology (BJM). The society arranges workshops, seminars and conferences regularly to heighten knowledge sharing among researchers from home and abroad.Over the last few decades the society has been enriched with a number of dedicated, dynamic and resourceful young researchers and scientists.

Coronavirus onslaught: Global Perspective and Bangladesh Preparedness

A seminar was organized at the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka, to disseminate information and create awareness about the 2019 novel Coronavirus (nCoronavirus). The seminar was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists and the Department of Microbiology, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
