The Bangladesh Journal of Microbiology (BJM) was born from the vision of the Bangladesh Society of Microbiologists (BSM), established in 1976, to build a national platform where microbiologists from diverse disciplines could share discoveries, exchange ideas, and foster collaboration.

With renewed enthusiasm and a clear commitment to international recognition, the newly constituted Editorial Board has embarked on a transformative journey to position BJM for inclusion in Scopus and the Web of Science.

In alignment with global publishing standards, BJM has adopted a continuous online publication model, ensuring that articles are published promptly after acceptance and copyediting. This marks a major milestone—the introduction of an article-based publication system, the first of its kind on the BanglaJOL platform—eliminating delays associated with compiling full issues. Each article now receives a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), enhancing its global visibility and discoverability.

Importantly, BJM continues as a no-APC (Article Processing Charge) journal, reaffirming its commitment to accessibility and upholding scientific merit as the sole criterion for publication.

As BJM enters this exciting new phase, its guiding principles remain clear—quality, visibility, and inclusivity—driven by a vision to evolve into a globally recognized journal connecting local research with the international scientific community.

BJM extends sincere thanks to the Members of the Editorial Board, learned reviewers, and the Press Department, whose commitment and teamwork made this milestone possible.
